31 DAYS OF WISDOM: Proverbs 1

Listen with me and take heed…

My preacher has challenged us to read one Proverb a day throughout the month of May. He’s calling it “31 Days of Wisdom.” I’m challenging myself to blog on each one. I pray God gives me insight to share.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools despise wisdom and instruction. — Proverbs 1:7

I think I’ll put this on my wall in my classroom. Too many of our youth despise knowledge. It’s a natural curse of the young–to think they know more an their elders.

I praise God daily–seriously, DAILY–for age and wisdom.

Make my hair gray, my body sag, O Lord, if only you give me wisdom.

I remember being as young as my students. I remember thinking I knew it all. I remember each time I PAINFULLY learned that I was wrong. Should I fear the Lord as I might the dark or the unknown? Maybe a little. There may be something in the dark waiting for me. When facing the unknown, my future is uncertain. And although God is always waiting for me, my future is not uncertain.

I wait in glorious anticipation of what the Lord will bring.

Thank you, Lord, for age and wisdom. I pray you increase my wisdom in these 31 days.
